Video Description: In this video I had a unique opportunity to discuss Humacyte’s technology with Dr. Laura Niklason who is the founder of the human acellular vessel (HAV) and CEO of Humacyte (HUMA) a company that will be merging with the Alpha Healthcare Acquisition Corp (AHAC) SPAC. The HAV is an artificially created blood vessel that "comes to life" when implanted in the body and could be used in vascular trauma, arteriovenous grafts for dialysis, coronary artery bypass artery grafts and more.

Part I focuses on the underlying technology and business model for the company. We discuss recent clinical trials regarding the HAV in vascular traum and dialysis. We are also joined by Dale Sanders, the Chief Financial Officer of Humacyte who gives an overview of the company’s plan for commercialization and recent partnerships with Fresenius Medical Care.

Part II focuses on applications of the HAVs for coronary bypass surgery, peripheral vascular disease, and a potential biovascular pancreas that could treat high risk type 1 diabetic patients.
