Junior Mining Stock Picking Strategies from Brent Cook

Brent Cook is an economic geologist and mining analyst with almost 40 years of experience in picking junior mining stocks.

Brent is part of a team that writes a paid newsletter at https://explorationinsights.com

Early in his career, in 1997, Brent worked for Rick Rule as part of his analyst team.

Brent told me that he’s worked in over 60 countries around the globe, and his expertise spans from gold and silver, through copper, to uranium, and more.

In this conversation, Brent and I talked about many different topics. He helped me understand what makes a good junior mining stock, and what makes a bad junior company.

Brent told me that he is very interested in places like Uzbekistan, and Iran, when it comes down to mineral potential. Though these places are not yet open for mineral exploration, he told me to keep an eye out on jurisdictions that have previously been a "no go" zone for mining companies but are on the brink of a change in policy.

We also talked about uranium, which Brent is bullish on, as well as his outlook for the future of yellow cake in the West. Brent thinks the price of uraniul should be much higher, as the current price does not incentivize new production to come on line, and we do need that.

Towards the end of the conversation, I asked Brent which 3 junior mining stocks he’d buy if he could only buy 3 of them, and he gave me 4.

– Arizona Sonoran Copper
– Orogen Royalties
– i80 Gold
– Energy Fuels
